Prior to 2021, Oakview Academy accepted children in the Pre School capacity from the ages of 3 months to 6 years old. With many requests from our parents to extend into Primary School, in January 2021 we included a Grade 1 class and in doing so, have begun our exciting Primary School journey. We aim to promote a sense of belonging to our school and our community.
Oakview Academy has an attentive sense to nurture tomorrow’s leaders today.
We have a strong sense of community and with our unequivocal belief that all children should be given the opportunity to reach their full potential to build the skills and knowledge required to succeed.
We promote various 21st century learning tools such as creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, strategies, activities and projects to ensure that our learners gain the valuable skills that will help them adjust later on in High School.
We acknowledge the potential in each learner to reach optimal ability.
At Oakview Academy, our enhanced curriculum provides a strong basis in the Foundation Phase Primary School and continues to build the skills and knowledge required to succeed in the Intermediate Phase Primary School, High School and beyond.
We believe in providing children with a high-quality education under optimal conditions.
We believe it prudent to keep the class sizes within reasonable manageable parameters in the various development and grade phases, and therefore our class sizes are relatively small.
Our classes are led by a wonderful team of qualified, experienced and forward-thinking teachers, who are hands-on, believe in building close relationships with their learners and work closely with each learner within the South African National CAPS curriculum.
In addition to CAPS, our education and learning are delivered using innovative methods with an additional supplementary curriculum for learners to achieve the expected competencies in the core academic skills of each development phase and grade.
Early learners have an innate wish to explore their world and Oakview Academy provides such a platform with the goal to produce confident, independent learners.
The early years of children’s formal education is the foundation upon which future academic and life skills are built. Work ethic and basic work patterns are set in a child’s formative school years, and the love of learning blossoms in the classroom that is supportive, dynamic, varied, balanced and positive.
We focus on an integrated curriculum with specialized educational programs in the following areas :
Grade R is the bridge from the concrete world to the world of symbols and numbers in Grade 1.
These grades focus on perceptual development and exposure to relevant content, skills and knowledge that are required for further learning.
We focus on an integrated curriculum with specialized educational programs in the following areas:
We create opportunities for personal growth in independence and responsibility as a bridge so that our learners take up the challenge of being personally responsible and accountable for their actions in the intermediate phase, Grades 4 – 7.
Our Primary School is growing with our learners. We currently offer up to Grade 5 and will be adding a new grade each year, with plans to extend to Grade 7 by 2027.
This phased growth allows your child to continue their educational journey in a familiar, nurturing environment without the disruption of changing schools.
Aligned with the national curriculum, our teaching embraces 21st-century learning. By integrating technology into the classroom, we help learners become digitally savvy and confident problem-solvers — skills essential for the future.
We offer a home away from home experience for our children as they spend their day in a warm, friendly, and safe environment. We believe in giving each child love, encouragement, support, praise, and positive reinforcement.
Essential life skills are developed and Learners are encouraged to work at their own pace towards reaching their full potential. We do not lose sight of the fact that creativity is more important than the final result.
Children will attend the class which is age appropriate for them.
We offer many different Extramural Activities at school, which are presented by qualified Coaches and Instructors in their respective fields. Each EMA takes place at school, during school time. Please kindly note that these activities are completely optional, at an additional nominal fee which is paid directly to the chosen EMA, either monthly or termly.
As part of our healthy outlook at school, we believe that all children deserve to lead a healthy lifestyle and should be introduced to fun exercise, movement and social skills that will benefit them long-term.
We have incorporated a weekly fun and interactive program at no additional cost to the parent for all children in Primary School from Grade R onwards, where the children are encouraged to express themselves through music and dance, team-building exercises, obstacle courses, sports activities and positive sportsmanship. Teachers join in all the fun with the children and it is a wonderful weekly activity.

AVAILABLE TO ALL LEARNERS FROM GRADE R TO GRADE 5
Learners generally learn in different ways and at different paces, and some learners may require assistance in developing increased competencies in order to perform to the best of their ability.
The benefits of smaller classes enable our dedicated Teachers to identify any development learning barriers through their continuous observations, and assessments.
SPEECH THERAPY AND OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY SUPPORT
We are privileged to have SPEECH THERAPISTS and an OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST on-site at school. Our Therapists are independent service providers and charge independently.
If a learner is referred to our therapy support team, the class teacher and the therapists will work hand in hand to support the needs of the learner, and parents are continuously updated on their child’s progress.

We would like our learners to be confident in completing all of the tasks and activities offered as well as successfully grasp new concepts to reach par levels within their Grade, we therefore offer an academic support programme called : THE BOOKWORM CLUB at Oakview Academy where FREE extra lessons are offered.
